Yateley Choral Society’s next concert will be on Saturday November 18, 7.45pm, at St Swithun’s Church, Yateley. It should be a lovely concert where as well as our brilliant choir you will benefit from the talents of a young orchestra at the beginning of their professional careers, made up of students from the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music.
The main work is Puccini’s Messa di Gloria which has become one of the most loved pieces in the repertoire. If you are not familiar with this piece here is a link to a version on youtube. I am sure that you will recognise at least part of it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8khYsZfFI4k.
We will also be performing Haydn’s tempestuous motet Insanae et Vanae Curae and his resplendent and celebrated Te Deum for the Empress Maria Therese, written for the majestic court of Vienna.
The orchestra will complete the programme by playing Wagner’s delightful orchestral symphonic poem Siegfried Idyll, originally performed as a birthday present for the composer’s wife, Cosima.
Tickets: £15, students £5, and under 16s free; available on the door or from 01276 682749
