2021 December Events

Tuesday 7th December at 6 pm we have been invited to sing at: Jakes Play World in Trilakes Country Park, Yateley Road, Sandhurst, Berkshire GU47 8JQ
The event will last for a couple of hours. It will be outside but under cover. Those who have attended this before will know how rewarding it is to support the Knights Foundation in their work for disabled children and their families. Please update the doodle poll that Matthew has circulated or let us know on Monday if you can attend. We will have a keyboard and Joanna from St Peters will accompany us.

Saturday 11th December – Bagshot Big Bash 2 -6pm – SHS Singing 5.15 -6pm.
Includes Blessing of Xmas tree by vicar of Mary’s church Andreas Sigtig and Cllr Valerie White switching on lights. We also have the opportunity to fundraise for SHS, with or without a separate stall; could bring our own canopy & buckets during afternoon.

Thursday 16 December 6:00pm – Ashwood House is a new development in Camberley centre. There are circa 50 residents and they would like us to sing carols in the podium garden to celebrate the festive period. The proposed date is 16th December from 6pm and they would like to have the carols for an hour or hour and a half in two slots. This is an opportunity to promote the choir to new residents of Camberley. Please sign up to the Doodle poll if you can make it.

Monday 20th December – Frimley Park Hospital have requested that we sing in the Courtyard under a gazebo. The staff and patients will hear us. This will substitute for our usual participation in the ‘sing round the wards’ on Christmas Eve which of course can’t happen now. Geoff will accompany us on the keyboard. Please sign up to the Doodle poll if you can make it.

Your 100 Carols books will be needed for each of these events.

2021 Come and Sing

Our Come and Sing on September 4th, 2021 was a great success.

50 members and guests attended and we rehearsed and sang much of the Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man”.

Our thanks to Ed and Geoff and to everyone who turned out to sing again after so long

Better is peace than always war
And better is peace than evermore war
Always war, always war
Better is peace than evermore war
And better and better is peace

L’homme armé doit on douter?

Better is peace than always war
And better is peace than evermore war
Always war, always war
Better is peace than evermore war
And better and better is peace

Ring, ring, ring, ring
Ring, ring, ring, ring!
Ring out the thousand wars of old
Ring in the thousand years of peace
Ring out the old, ring in the new
Ring happy bells across the snow
The year is going, let him go
The year is going, let him go

Ring out the false, ring in the new
Ring out old shapes of foul disease
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old
Ring in the thousand years of peace
Ring in the valiant man and free
The larger heart, the kindlier hand
Ring out the darkness of the land
Ring in the Christ that is to be
The year is going; let him go
The year is going; let him go
Ring out the false, ring in the true
Ring, ring, ring, ring
Ring, ring, ring, ring!

God shall wipe away all tears
And there shall be no more death,
Neither sorrow nor crying,
Neither shall there be anymore pain.

Songs in the Park – Sunday 8 August 2021

We held a free event at Frimley Lodge Park on Sunday, 8th August, called ‘Songs in the Park’ which was led by Ed, accompanied by Geoff.

The idea was to have an informal and fun singing session of light music, so that members could meet to enjoy singing together again, prior to our Come&Sing workshop on 4th September and the beginning of term.  We convened in the Flourish Community Garden at 2.30pmBelow are two photos
